MAGISTERRA IN SCHOOL

At Magisterra Soloists, we are passionate about providing young people with up- close exposure to the instruments, sounds, and people involved in musical creation through professional-quality classical music concerts, adapted to the interests and attention spans of school-aged children. The ensemble is committed to the edification and enrichment of Canadian culture through high-quality classical art, made widely accessible. To this end, we have structured our educational concert projects so as to assist Ontarian teachers in covering essential parts of the Ontario Arts Curriculum, while providing them with complimentary follow-up materials for classroom use.

We strive to provide students with a dynamic and captivating experience of classical music that will instill in them a life-long love of music and culture, while providing them with tools that will serve them beyond the music classroom. Our interactive school outreach program incorporates audience participation, personal testimony from the artists, and interdisciplinary collaborations for the sake of making classical music intelligible and alive for young people. Our adapted concert programs incorporate historical, biographical, and compositional information that is age-appropriate and in line with the requirements of the Ontario curriculum. Our repertoire choices highlight the many expressive extremes present in classical music, ranging from the excruciatingly beautiful to the most highly-charged and exuberant. Through songs, rhythmic games and on-stage demonstrations, we invite the audience to experience first-hand the various compositional elements that they will then hear in the pieces we perform.
